I started writing music

When it started

I've been a piano player since 4th grade and I always thought it would be cool to write a piece of music. About a year before my first seizure I was reading a book and came across a poem. I read it and instantly decided to write music for it. Within 2 hours I had written the song and printed off sheet music for it. That was my first song.

After Brain Surgery

After brain surgery I started having much more interest in writing music. I've arranged about two dozen songs and have a list of other ideas to arrange. Some arrangements have only taken a few hours, but some have taken probably 60-80 hours to complete. Some of that has been due to a learning curve with the software.

Ongoing process

I usually don't know when the ideas for an arrangement will come. Sometimes I'm listening to a church song and a classical piece comes to mind. Once I was watching a movie and a song in the background triggered an arrangement idea. I try to always write down the ideas for future use.

Some of my work

"I Know That My Redeemer Lives / Moonlight Sonata"
Many of you will recognize these two songs. I had an idea to combine them. I even got America's Violinist, Jenny Oaks Baker to do a recording with me!
"I Often Go Walking / Clair De Lune" is based on a primary children's song "I Often Go Walking" and Claude Debussy's "Clair De Lune".
